The ground floor is the home of the old stag-beetle. He is a grumpy old men who always has something to grumble about. He even used to be angry with Penny. When the little fairy was playing the flute the old beetle would grab a stick and bang her door.
"Be quiet, there. I can't stand this noise."

But Penny made a pan of blueberry pie and visited the old stag-beetle. He hesitated for a while, but in the end he tasted the yummy cake. He liked it so much that he just forgot about all his complaints. He has been very friendly ever since. When, later, Penny couldn't make her flute sound, the old stag-beetle even lent his pipe-brush to the little fairy so that she had something to clean the flute with.
